What is a Keyfile
In order to generate secure passwords, Violet uses a private keyfile that is unique to you. If you are just getting started using Violet, the first thing you need to do is make a keyfile.
Why do I see a Keypad?
In order to generate secure passwords, Violet uses a private keyfile that is unique to you. This keyfile needs to be securely stored on your device, so Violet will ask you to enter a six-digit PIN that will be used to secure your file. Do not give your PIN to anyone!
Keyboard Shortcuts
Violet is meant to be used on many different devices ranging from smartphones to desktop computers. If you are using Violet from a device that has a keyboard, you can press various keys on your keyboard to quickly navigate the user interface. These shortcuts include:
      Homepage
    • Press "m" to go to the make a keyfile page.
    • Press "u" to go to the use a keyfile page.

      Make a Keyfile Page
    • Press "e" to download your keyfile.
    • Press "s" to change to simple key mode. This mode can help increase password compatibility with older websites.

      Use a Keyfile Page
    • Press "u" to select your keyfile from your local files. This is the first step you need to do when generating a password with Violet.
    • When you are typing in the passphrase box, hit the "enter" key to copy your password. Hit enter a second time to return to the homepage. Hitting enter twice is the quickest way to copy your password and close the screen that is exposing your password.
